Week in Review: All the Science Advice a New President Can Handle

Art Caplan offered his “Six Easy Pieces” for improving medicine and life science in a recent column. But we’re not the only science publication looking forward to the possibilities of the next administration.

Yesterday, Nature’s podcast series featured a conversation (mp3) with Science Progress Editor-in-Chief Jonathan Moreno and SP Adviser and Howard Hughes Institute President Tom Cech; they talked biomedical policy with Nature columnist David Goldston and Gail Cassel, VP for scientific affairs at Eli Lilly.

Discover magazine has also started a new Science Policy Project on its Reality Base blog. The project collects answers to the question, “What are the three most important things the next president can do to positively impact scientific research in the United States?” from distinguished scientists and policy experts from around the country. They’ve already posted responses from E.O. Wilson, Craig Venter, and SP Contributing Editor Chris Mooney.

The Scientist as well devotes its main features this week to “The Future of Science Policy.”
