We also need to be more proactive on determining the cost of the neighborhood effects of our production. Both producers and consumers are free from the costs their action have on society, mainly because we have failed to come up with an economic model that we can implement (such as higher taxes on high-polluting activities). This will not only help fund measures that will treat the problems caused by climate change, but also will discourage people from engaging in environmentally destructive behavior.
